BrahMos to power Indonesian military as India, Indonesia sign crucial defence, strategic deals

New Delhi, Jul 7, 2026: India and Indonesia on Tuesday inked a pact to supply BrahMos missiles to Indonesian military as the two countries signed defence and strategic deals to strengthen the bilateral ties. 

The deal was signed as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended a joint press meet after holding a bilateral meeting.

India and Indonesia also finaliseed the framework on maritime safety and security cooperation. An agreement on minerals and technologies for steel supply chain was also signed during this meet.

Modi arrived in Indonesia on Monday on the first leg of his three-nation tour, aimed at further strengthening India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision and its commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

He was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome when he arrived for talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and was conferred with the Indonesia’s highest honour – ’Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’.
