Bengaluru, July 30, 2026: A 54-year-old woman, who heads a charitable trust and claims to be a social worker, has accused three men of allegedly cheating her of ₹1.5 crore by falsely promising to secure her a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) seat. She has also alleged that the prime accused sexually harassed her during a trip to Delhi.
According to a complaint filed with the Halasuru Gate Police, the prime accused, Yerriswamy, a resident of JP Nagar, introduced himself as a media adviser to Congress leaders and claimed he could arrange an MLC nomination. He initially demanded ₹5 crore, but later agreed to accept ₹1.5 crore after negotiations.
The complainant alleged that she borrowed money from acquaintances and paid ₹1 crore in instalments to Siddaraju and Basavaraju at Shikshakara Sadan on KG Road on August 10, 2024. She later paid the remaining amount near KC General Hospital in Malleswaram.
The woman further alleged that Yerriswamy later took her to Delhi on the pretext of introducing her to senior AICC leaders. During the trip, he allegedly sexually harassed her in a hotel room. When she resisted and demanded the return of her money, the accused allegedly threatened to kill her.
Based on the complaint, the Halasuru Gate Police have registered a case against Yerriswamy, Siddaraju, and Basavaraju on charges of cheating, sexual harassment, and criminal intimidation. Further investigation is underway.
