Bengaluru: BJP storms Vidhana Soudha demanding B Nagendra’s resignation; leaders detained

Bengaluru, Aug. 24, 2026: High drama unfolded outside Vidhana Soudha on Monday as BJP leaders staged a protest demanding the resignation of Minister B Nagendra, who is accused in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation scam.

More than 500 police personnel were deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Several BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R Ashoka and BJP State president B Y Vijayendra, were detained as protesters gathered in large numbers near Vidhana Soudha.

Tension prevailed in the area for some time amid the protest and heavy police deployment. All protesters were taken into preventive custody, police said.

Meanwhile, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) temporarily closed two entrances of the Vidhana Soudha Namma Metro station as a precautionary measure.

“On the advice of local authorities, Entrances E and F (lift entrances) have been temporarily closed from 10:17 am today. Further updates will follow,” BMRCL said in a statement.

All other entrances at the station remain open for passenger entry and exit, it added.
