Belagavi, Mar 24, 2026: A hotel owner died by suicide in Hukkeri town of Belagavi district on Tuesday, reportedly due to financial distress caused by a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders that severely affected his business, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Ramu Halluri (50), a resident of Hukkeri, who was found hanging in the dining hall of his hotel.

Suicide

Halluri owned and operated Hotel Hanuman near the old bus stand in Hukkeri. The shortage of commercial LPG cylinders had forced him to shut the hotel for a week, leading to mounting financial difficulties, including an inability to pay rent and repay loans.

Police said he was also under pressure from creditors, which is believed to have driven him to take the extreme step.

Hukkeri police visited the spot and have registered a case.
