Mumbai, Mar 10, 2026: T20 World Cup Prize Money: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash prize of Rs 131 crore for the India cricket team after they created history by winning a record third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

India defeated New Zealand in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium and became the first team in the history of the tournament to retain the trophy.

With this victory, India also became the first team to win the tournament three times, further cementing their place among the most successful teams in the history of the format.

“The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future," BCCI said in a statement on Tuesday.

The prize money has been increased by Rs 6 crore compared to what the members of the Indian team received for winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India had won the tournament unbeaten to end their 11-year ICC trophy

India began the 2026 T20 World Cup as the clear favourites and won all four of their Group A matches even though there were concerns over the outfit not being able to produce a complete performance.

Meanwhile, their campaign suffered a jolt when South Africa handed them a 76-run thrashing. The result and West Indies’ massive win over Zimbabwe – the other two teams of their Group 1, meant India were in a must-win situation for their next two matches to qualify for the finals.

Their campaign was back on track following impressive wins over Zimbabwe and West Indies. In the semi-final they go the better of England in a high scoring to set up final date with New Zealand.

In the final, India produced a dominating performance for a massive 96-run win.
