
New Delhi, Oct 5, 2026: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday praised the performance of Indian athletes at the Asian Games 2026, saying the nation is proud of every member of the contingent who represented the country with dedication and commitment.
“The Asian Games 2026 have witnessed outstanding performances by our athletes. The nation is proud of every member of the Indian contingent who represented Bharat with dedication and commitment,” Murmu said in a post on X.
She congratulated all the medal winners, particularly the women athletes, for their impressive performances.
“The hard work, skill and perseverance of our athletes have brought great honour to the nation,” the President said.
India finished fourth on the medal table with 85 medals, comprising 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze. The tally was 21 medals fewer than India’s haul at the previous edition in Hangzhou, China.
The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which began on September 19, concluded in Nagoya, Japan, on Sunday.
Murmu also extended her best wishes to all Indian sportspersons for continued success in their sporting careers and more achievements in the future.
