Srinagar, Jan 11, 2026: The Indian Army on Tuesday evening opened fire at a Pakistani drone spotted near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said. Several other drones were also detected in the area.
According to the Army, machine guns were used to engage the drone. A video from the area showed tracer rounds lighting up the night sky as troops responded to the aerial intrusion.

Security forces have launched a search operation to ascertain whether the drones dropped weapons or narcotics. The incident comes a day after a drone flying in from the direction of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) reportedly dropped a consignment of arms in the Samba sector.
Officials said drone sightings, which had significantly reduced after Operation Sindoor last year, have resurfaced, with at least five Pakistani drone incursions reported in a single day on Tuesday.
Pakistan has repeatedly been accused of using drones to drop weapons and drugs into Indian territory and to aid state-sponsored terror groups, security sources said.
