BJP MLCBangalore, April2, 2013: BJP MLC Mohan Limbikai submitted his resignation to Council chairperson D H Shankaramurthy on Monday. He is set to contest the Assembly elections from the Hubli-Dharwad West seat on a KJP ticket. Limbikai has been an ardent follower of KJP chief B S Yeddyurappa.

The resignation has been accepted with immediate effect. Limbikai had entered the Upper House by defeating senior Congress leader H K Patil in the Karnataka West Graduates’ Constituency in 2008. He had tenure till June 2014.

Another MLC and Yeddyurappa loyalist Shivaraj Sajjan is expected to resign and join the KJP in the next couple of days. The BJP had recently filed a petition before Shankaramurthy against Limbikai, Sajjan and four other MLCs, seeking their disqualification for their alleged anti-party activities.

The petition was under process and so far no action had been initiated by Shankaramurthy.
Sajjan will become the third MLC to quit the BJP and join the KJP.
