5 of family killed in accident near Karnataka’s Chitradurga

Chitradurga, May 28, 2026: In a tragic road accident, five members of a family, including two two-year-old children, were killed after the goods vehicle in which they were travelling rammed into a parked lorry on National Highway-150A near Byrapura in Molakalmuru taluk of Chitradurga district on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Venkatesh (28), Shivamma (28), Meenakshi (18), and two-year-old children Puja and Purushottama. All the victims were residents of Gudaaranagar in Ballari district.

According to reports, Venkatesh and his family had travelled to Davanagere to purchase vessels and were returning to Gudaaranagar when the accident occurred.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the goods vehicle was completely damaged. Shivamma, Meenakshi, and the two children died on the spot. Venkatesh, who was driving the vehicle, suffered grievous injuries and succumbed while being shifted to a hospital in Ballari.
