Bengaluru, April 08, 2024: A 120-foot tall temple chariot on Saturday collapsed during a religious and cultural event near Anekal in Bengaluru (rural).

Thousands of devotees, from more than 10 villages, were participating in the annual temple fair of Huskur Madduramma temple when the incident occurred.

Chariot

Hundreds of devotees were trying to raise the gigantic and intricately decorated chariot with the help of ropes tied to all sides just when it lost balance and came down crashing to the ground.

No one was injured in the incident. The chariot was later lifted back to its original position with the help of tractors and ox carts.

The Huskur Madduramma fair is a popular annual chariot festival, where these chariots are the main attraction.

Till a decade back, over a hundred chariots would grace the popular festival, but the number has dropped drastically to just 10 to 15 in recent years.
