10 Army personnel killed as vehicle plunges into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda

Jammu and Kashmir, Jan 22, 2026: At least 10 Army personnel were killed and several others injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Thursday.

The accident occurred at Khanni Top along the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road. The bulletproof vehicle, carrying 17 personnel and heading towards a high-altitude post, reportedly went out of control before plunging nearly 200 feet into the gorge, officials told PTI.

Following the mishap, Army and local administration teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations despite the challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions. Initial reports had stated that four personnel were killed and nine injured.

The injured were later airlifted to the military hospital in Udhampur for treatment.
