GVOM-3 reaches semi-final stage

Doha, Sep 3, 2012 : The third season of Gulf Voice of Mangalore has reached its semi-final stage, having concluded all the preliminary rounds in six Gulf countries.


GVOM-3 will be held in Doha Qatar, and the organizers have already announced dates for the semi-finals. Five female singers and six male singers will contest for a chance to take part in the finals, which will be held on September 21 at Al Ghazal Club. A male singer and a female singer will qualify for the finals, which will be held in Doha on October 19, 2012.

The judges for the semi-finals will be Prem Kumar Nandigudda, the singer composer; Alwyn Noronha, lyricist from Bajpe; and Ashith Pinto, a Bangalore-based musician. Cyril Gregory Sequeira, well-known for his humorous writings, will be the MC of the event.

According to Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA) President Harry Lobo, the event coincides with the traditional Nativity festival in Qatar.


Mangalore-born singers working in Kuwait, Doha, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia are taking part in the contest.
