Mangaluru, May 23, 2025: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) launched a ‘Tiger Operation’ on May 22 to clear unauthorized vending and encroachments on public property, including government land, footpaths, roadsides, and pavements throughout the city.

During the operation, MCC officials removed illegal street vendors from major locations such as State Bank, Kankanady, and Falnir. This action was prompted by public complaints about the obstruction of pedestrian pathways and disruption of traffic caused by unauthorized vendors.

In the lead-up to the operation, the MCC had issued prior notices to illegal vendors, instructing them to vacate public areas being used to store goods or operate fast food and petty shops. The corporation underscored that these encroachments are not only unlawful but also create significant inconvenience and safety hazards for the public.

The MCC has warned that further eviction drives will follow if vendors do not comply, and legal measures will be taken against those violating municipal regulations.

The civic body has called on vendors and business owners to cooperate in preserving public cleanliness, safety, and ensuring smooth traffic flow within the city.
