Pregnant mum addicted to eating ROCKS says: ’I feel ashamed but I have to do it’

May 03, 2015: A pregnant mum is putting her and her unborn baby’s health at risk with her bizarre craving - eating rocks.

While most women want chocolate, ice-cream or even strange food combinations during pregnancy, the woman named only as Silvia, has probably the strangest craving ever.

She features in a programme called My Extraordinary Pregnancy which has been uploaded to YouTube.

In the footage, Silvia, of New York, USA, talks candidly about her addiction despite doctors warning her she is at risk of disease and developing stomach problems.



Tough addiction: Silvia is caught between a rock and a hard place

The stay at home mum-of-two, says: "I feel really upset and dozy, ashamed, but I have to do it.

"Some women eat pickles or sushi. I would love that."

The footage then shows Silvia, aged 21, walking around the yard of her home looking for suitable rocks to eat to cure her craving.

She adds: "When I see certain rocks my mouth waters. It’s like when you see something that you really want to eat."
