Lawyer offers 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats to marry President Obama’s daughter

May 27, 2015: A lawyer in Kenya has offered President Obama an assortment of cows, sheep and goats in return for his teenage daughter’s hand in marriage.

Felix Kiprono said he “got interested” in 16-year-old Malia in 2008 and has been saving himself for her ever since.

 

The lawyer, whose age has not been revealed, said he would give the President of the United States 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats if he let the two tie the knot.

Speaking to The Nairobian newspaper, Mr Kiprono said: “I have shared this with my family and they are willing to help me raise the bride price.”

Mr Kiprono told how he was drafting a letter that he planned to hand to the US ambassador to Kenya a letter to President Obama with the offer.

 

He said he also asked that Malia join the president on his next visit to the country, at which point he would pop the question on a hill in Bureti “where leaders and warriors are usually crowned.”

He told the newspaper he was not after the Obama’s money and that his love was real - adding that they would lead a simple life as man and wife.

Mr Kiprono said: "I will teach Malia how to milk a cow, cook ugali (maize porridge) and prepare mursik (a traditional sour milk) like any other Kalenjin woman."
