Shivamogga, Jan 15, 2021: A snake-catcher had a narrow escape while rescuing a cobra in Karnataka on January 12. The video of his rescue mission surfaced on the internet and has gone viral on social media.
In a video tweeted by news agency ANI, a cobra slithered on a bark of a tree in Shivamogga. The snake-catcher approached the bark and made an attempt to lift the cobra with a stick. In the meantime, another man held onto the tail of the reptile.
In the process, the cobra hissed, and snapped at the snake-catcher’s knee and he lost his grip and fell down.
However, he did manage to catch hold of the snake with the other man’s help, and ultimately rescued it. "A reptile expert narrowly escapes being bitten by a cobra snake while trying to catch the animal," ANI said in the caption of the video.

The video has gone viral with over one lakh views and netizens posted their thoughts in the comments section.
"Protective gears...at least reaching knees and forehands should be provided by the department for volunteers and professionals. Snakes are so agile and can easily overrun our bony structure," a user said.
Another comment reads, "Applaud their bravery and effort. They didn’t panic much, else could have been absolutely fatal. Salute to the experts."
