A Vijayawada sweet vendor recently noticed an alarming activity in his newly-opened bank account. The door-to-door salesman, who has been making a living by selling sweet was astounded when he found out that he had over ₹18 crore in his bank account.

According to a report in The Times of India, 30-year-old C Kishore Lal had opened an account in the local branch of Ahmedabad-based Sri Renukamata Multistate Cooperative Urban Credit Society recently.

But when he saw got a notice from the Income Tax department about the alarming transactions, Lal said that he was innocent.

A Deccan Chronicle report explained that the I-T department had concluded that Lal had "neither the possible sources of such income nor the contacts who would have such huge earnings."

The officials suspect the bank in the foul play and have asked the bank to provide CCTV footage.
