National Film Awards: Baahubali is best film, Amitabh, Kangana best actors

New Delhi, March 28, 2016: The 63rd National Film Awards were started as an annual incentive by the Government of India to encourage meaningful films. The list of the main set of winners have just been announced.


Baahubali


Director Ramesh Sippy, along with director-actor Satish Kaushik have given their recommendations to Information and Broadcasting minister Arun Jaitely.

Here’s the list of the winners:



Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh won the Best Actor Award for his role in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku. Amitabh Bachchan as Bhaskor Banerjee in Piku is one of the best performances by the actor. His role was appreciated by both the viewers and the critics.

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana bagged the award for her role in her hit film Tanu Weds Manu Returns. The Queen actor was seen in a double role in this Aanand L Rai film. More than her role as Tanu, her character as a Haryanvi girl Kusum aka Datto, was praised by both Kangana’s fans and critics.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has got the title of Best Director for his film Bajirao Mastani. The film stars Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. This magnum opus tracks the love story of Maratha warrior Bajirao (Ranveer Singh) and his second wife Mastani (Deepika Padukone).

Telugu film Baahubali won the Best Film award at the 63rd National Film Awards. SS Rajamouli’s film was the fastest grossing film at the box office in India and other countries. The film stars Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah and Prabhas in the lead roles.
