44th International Film Festival of India in Goa from 20th November

Mumbai, Nov 12, 2013:
The 44th International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa from the 20th to the 30th  of November will be inaugurated by Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon, Iranian director Majid Majidi, Bollywood actress Rekha and singer Asha Bhosle.

44th International Film Festival of India in Goa from November 20th44th Edition of IFFI is being organized by the ‘IFFI Secretariat’ under the aegis of the ‘Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’, Government of India, in collaboration with the ‘Government of Goa’ and the ‘Indian Film Industry’. IFFI 2013 will offer awards worth Rs.13.2 Crores.

Manoj Kumar, veteran filmmaker and actor will inaugurate the ‘Indian Panorama’ section. A film by world renowned Czech theatre director, actor, scenarist and filmmaker Jiri Menzil will be screened, along with the presentation of ‘Lifetime Achievement award’ to him.

15 films from around the world will vie for the coveted Peacock Awards.  The ‘FOCUS’ will be represented by a package of 19 films from the North- East regions of India. ‘Special Tributes’ will be paid to Manoj Kumar, Buddadev Dasgupta and S.Shankar.

‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ directed by Justin Chadwick and written by William Nicholson will be the closing film of IFFI 2013
