Todays story: My Wife

Todays story: My Wife

Mangalore Today/ GMB

‘My wife had some kind of problem. I could not find out what that was. When I married her I thought as being so young she liked to act abnormally or want to make me fool. But with time I was scared of her.

my wife-story.

She could tell things before it would happen. Sometimes at the middle of night she started cooking and when I asked her what kind of madness was that she normally responded guest will arrive in the morning. After finishing Morning Prayer I saw my aunt with her four daughters stood at our door who never came before. Day by day people were talking about my wife but she had no reaction on anything. I could not sleep at night as sometimes she walked and laughed in sleep. Often at late night I heard her talking with someone.

I went for consultation with a doctor outside our island. He advised me to take her to Dhaka. Meanwhile she tried to stop a wedding boat that was about to sail for a far island, she alert them that the boat will drown by a storm. They did not stop as the day was sunny and nice. We heard the news at night, the boat had drowned in the middle of river and everyone died. I stopped sleeping with her from that night.

Our island has very few people and everyone started calling her witch. That day I was out for fishing in the river, suddenly I saw my wife was running through an abandoned island. I could not believe my eyes how could she go there without a boat. I hurried my boat to her. There was no one. I returned to home and with my family searched her everywhere.

At night whole village went outside with lantern to search her. She simply disappeared. Many people said many things. It’s been ten years still I can hear her laughter and feel that she will come back any day’
