Sep 24, 2018: Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal had a fairytale engagement at Lake Como over the weekend and the Ambanis and Piramals gave Italy an event to remember for decades to come.

Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s daughter Isha got engaged to Ajay and Swati Piramal’s son Anand in a starry, dreamy ceremony at Lake Como in Italy over the weekend.

The festivities continued for three days, from September 21 to 23 and saw the who’s who of Bollywood adding star power to the event.

Isha and Anand got engaged at the foothills of the Alps, as their parents and family members cheered them on.

Mukesh Ambani walked Isha down to fiance Anand. Isha looked stunning in a biege dress, while Anand was the quintessential Indian groom in traditional attire.

Isha’s brothers Anant and Akash Ambani, along with her sister-in-law to-be Shloka Mehta, accompanied them down the aisle.

The night saw a live performance by musician John Legend, as tourists in Lake Como watched the night sky lit up with an extensive display of fireworks that lasted quite some time.

A bird’s eye view of Lake Como last night left tourists at the resort area with their jaws on the floor.

Many people took to Instagram to share glimpses of what they called an ’Indian Royal wedding’ in Lake Como. The festivities kicked off on Friday with a welcome lunch and ends on Sunday with a farewell lunch. In between, the Ambanis and Piramals gave Lake Como a weekend to remember.

Lake Como is arguably the most famous of all lakes in Italy and all of Europe, with Hollywood celebrities regularly retreating to the resort town. George and Amal Clooney have a villa in Lake Como.

However, all of that was put to shame this weekend, when Mukesh and Nita Ambani hosted their daughter Isha’s formal engagement party in the Lombardy town.

Bollywood stars Sonam Kapoor with husband Anand Ahuja flew down to Como from Milan after attending the Milan Fashion Week.

Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao were also snapped at the engagement.

Filmmaker Karan Johar made his way to the engagement ceremony with about 50 bags in tow.

Khushi Kapoor flew from Mumbai on Friday morning, and her sister Janhvi joined her in Como from Switzerland, where the latter was shooting for Brides Today.

Fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who was with Janhvi during the Brides Today shoot, too was at Como. Malhotra posed with Priyanka Chopra and her fiance, American singer Nick Jonas, for a photo.

Both Priyanka and Nick were dressed in Manish Malhotra creations.

Anil Kapoor, meanwhile, left people mighty impressed, posing by the picturesque Como in a tux.

From about 3 kilometres from Villa Olmo, the venue of the engagement yesterday, tourists clicked a cavalcade of cars making their way to the ’Indian Royal wedding’. The Ambanis and Piramals made sure their kids’ engagement was the event of a lifetime.

Isha and Anand’s families have been friends for over four decades now. The two are expected to tie the knot in December this year.
