Mangaluru, Oct 14, 2017: Spreading smiles is the task of dentists, no exaggeration in any way, for a bad tooth will definitely not bring smile on any face.

Dr Shubhan S Alva is an outstanding dentist, a great organiser as well as an excellent teacher in his own way. Presently serving as a Reader in the Department of Public Health Dentistry at the A J Institute of  Dental Sciences, he is also an outstanding President of the District Branch of the Indian Dental Association which has been  adjudged the Best Branch from among the branches of the Association across the nation. That’s not  all, he has also  won the Best President Award of Indian Dental Association among all the state branches during 2015-16.

Shubhan did his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences. He started practice in Bajpe in 1993 and subsequently started group practice in 2005.
He has held the post of President, Vice President and Executive Committee Member in both the Dakshina Kannada district and State branches  of the Indian Dental Association. Dr Alva has also  presented research papers at the World Conference on Tobacco or Health 2015 at Abu Dhabi and Advancing Ethical Research Conference 2016 in USA.

As an active member of Tobacco Intervention Initiative Centre at A.J. Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru, he has organized various anti-tobacco programmes including promotional programmes for various target groups like differently-abled children, beedi workers, prisoners and others. Dr Alva has  also been  instrumental in propagating ‘Smoke Free Home Initiative.’
