Mangaluru, Sept 29, 2016: He can be best described as a zealous social worker, a philanthropist, a  great organiser, a dramatist all rolled into one. He has played a key role in binding the Kannadigas in the distant Abu Dhabi under a single umbrella called Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha.

He is Sarvotham Shetty, a businessman based in UAE who is also  responsible for the formation of the Bunts Association and Tulu Koota in the UAE and has been instrumental in their success since over the past 29 years.

Hailing from a tiny village called Parika in Udupi district, Shetty moved to Mumbai after his PU  education. Initially he worked in a Solicitor’s office and  later  pursued his Collegiate education at the R.A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai  for his B.Com degree.  His leadership qualities were honed right since his college days. Later, he had even  formed a theatrical group called Kala Jagattu in Mumbai along with his friends.

Subsequently, Shetty moved to the UAE where he is successfully pursuing his own business. He is married to Usha and has two children Samyukta and Samarth.

Sarvotham Shetty’s services have won him the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award under Horanadu Kannadiga category, while the Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha under his leadership was awarded the coveted  “Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava Prashasthi” on the 50th Annivesary of formation of Karnataka State. Also a recipient of prestigious Aryabhata Award, Shetty has been recently chosen for the Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty Award  instituted in the name of former chairman of Vijaya Bank.
