Mangaluru, Feb 22, 2018: We have among us numismatists, philatelists and many more hobbyists, but probably a collector of just anything right from ordinary to unique is rare. One such rare collector is Mohammad Yaseer from Kalladka in Bantwal taluk.
One has to glance at Yaseer’s vivid collections to believe it. An encouragement given by a teacher to hold an exhibition of coins and stamps by borrowing it from friends when he was the Arts Club President at Balavikas School at Maani, was all it took for him to pursue this hobby as a passion.
A businessman by profession, the backyard of his house is his mini museum where one can find almost everything right from ancient wooden items, vessels, agricultural implements, coins, stamps, sim cards of different nations, currency notes and even soft drink bottles. He has in his kitty 75 copies of newspapers of yesteryears. If that’s not suffice he has even documented details of almost around 400 people who died in the areas coming under the mosques in Kalladka since 1990. His collections are so impressive that he is invited to hold exhibitions in schools too.
