Dr. Suryakanth Pai - Spreading Smiles

Mangaluru, July 29, 2016: Spreading smiles is his occupation. After all Dr. Suryakanth M. Pai is a leading dental surgeon of the city. An alumnus of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), he is a recipient of the prestigious Dr. TMA Pai Gold medal, Colgate-Palmolive Gold medal and Hindustan Ciba Geigy Silver Medal for standing first in the Mangalore University final BDS Examinations of 1992. He then went on to complete Master’s in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry in MAHE. He has served at Manipal University’s College of Dental Surgery, as Associate Professor and as Professor in Sharavathy Dental College, Shimoga.

He quit academics in March 2005 to pursue his dream of ’DenSure’, a preventive dentistry programme for kids.  Under this programme, kids’ dental health is regularly monitored until they reach maturity. “DenSure programme is a partnership between the parent and the doctor. About 80% of the people suffer from dental cavities. Good dental care during childhood reduces this drastically,” he says.

Dr. Suryakanth Pai is a well-known guest faculty at national and international fora. The 46-year old pedodontist is married to Arathi. He is also the chairman of Bhami Research Laboratories, which is engaged in reducing the cost of cancer drugs.
