Mangaluru, Jan 3, 2015: Even in this age of internet boom, Akashvani or All India Radio  has its dedicated band  of listeners. Reaching out to them through educative and enlightening programmes is Dr Sadananda Perla, Programme Executive in Mangaluru Akashavani.

Hailing from Perla in Kasargod district, Dr S. Perla is a dedicated journalist having an experience spanning over two decades. He began his career as Assistant Editor and reporter in a Kasargod eveninger named ‘Prathisurya’ in 1989 and later worked for Samyukta Karnataka in Bengaluru before joining Akashavani Gulbarga as Transmission Executive in 1994. He was posted in Mangaluru Akashavani in 2010 and has been quite instrumental in airing several useful programmes like features on Bhanamathi,  floods in north Karnataka, Dairy development etc.

Dr. Perla even served as a columnist and his columns in Margadarshi monthly magazine have been compiled in a book form. Some of his published works are ’Ondishtu Maathu and ‘Kasargodina Kannada Horata.’ He was awarded Ph.D for his thesis “Kayyara Kinnyanna Rai literature and Kasargod dispute.”

In recognition of his yeoman services to the field of journalism, Dr Perla has now been chosen for the Development Journalism Award for the year 2013 by the Govt of Karnataka. Dr Perla’s wife Pramila is an Asst Commissioner in MCC and the couple is blessed with two sons.
