Mangalore, Dec 4, 2010: Dakshina Kannada district is now having a new Deputy Commissioner in Subodh Yadav after the most popular erstwhile DC V Ponnuraj was transferred to Shimoga district in a disappointing move by the state government. But the disappointment did not last long as the new DC has shown all indications of being equally dynamic and efficient, like his predecessor.
A 1999 batch IAS Officer, Subodh Yadav who hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, is an MTech graduate from IIT, New Delhi, Prior to becoming DC of DK he was the personal secretary to Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily. This of course is his second stint in DK where he has earlier served as Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat from August 2004 to May 2005.He has even served as DC of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and CEO of Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat.
With his administrative experience spanning over a decade, Subodh Yadav is all set to continue the good tradition set by his predecessor and has already hinted that the works taken up by the earlier DC Ponnuraj will be continued with more vigour.
He has also promised to take public into confidence before initiating any project, and this indeed is also a welcome sign. “All developmental activities will be taken up with people’s active cooperation and participation,” he has said.
Subodh Yadav has further promised to address various burning issues confronting the district and already the DC has been meeting people and taking them into confidence on various issues. He was in Vittal recently to convince and persuade the traders to clear encroachments to facilitate road widening. A welcome move that has been heartily welcomed by the people.
The city is also hoping that many of its pressing problems would find a solution under the leadership of Subodh Yadav. Any major initiative would be taken up only after assessing ground realities, he has assured.
Certainly the new DC has kindled hopes and aspirations among the people of the city in particular and district in general.
