A man who is credited with turning the Manipal Group into a global brand in education, has figured in the latest list of billionaires released by the International business magazine Forbes. Dr. Ranjan Pai who heads the Manipal Education and Medical Group is among the 210 newcomers on the 2013 Forbes billionaires list, joining the coveted club at number 1107 with a net worth of $1.3 billion. He is ranked as the 63rd richest Indian in the list.
Dr. Pai is a medical graduate of KMC, Manipal and has studied Hospital Administration in the United States. He has an excellent insight into the functioning of large healthcare systems and medical schools, having been exposed to the nuances of healthcare administration and medical education at various stages.As the CEO of MEMG, Dr. Ranjan Pai’s focus is on the new business initiatives of the group.He is acknowledged for financial restructuring of the Group and creating a platform for the induction of private equity for the rapid growth of the Group.
The Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) set up by Dr Pai is a corporate
entity responsible for the administration of new and existing hospitals and the education institutions of the group.
