Dinesh Amin Mattu appointed as Media Advisor to CMMangalore, May 21, 2013: He is a senior journalist with a secular approach and above all is a man of principles. It is this virtue of his that has today earned him a rare honour-to be the Media Advisor to Karnataka’s new Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. That this outstanding personality - Dinesh Amin Mattu has his roots in Dakshina Kannada district, makes the appointment all the more significant.

Presently working as Assistant Editor of Prajavani Daily, Dinesh  is in the field of journalism since 1983 and is known for his straightforwardness and unbiased  political analyses.Though born in Mumbai,his family hails from Mattu, a tiny village near Mulki in Dakshina Kannada. After his primary education in Mumbai, Dinesh studied in schools in Hejamady, Kinnigoli and Suratkal and then went on to study Law in SDM Law College, Mangalore.

He forayed into the field of journalism in 1983 by joining ‘Mungaru’ daily and served it for six years in various capacities before joining ‘Prajavani’ in 1989. Here too he held various positions and was elevated as Assistant Editor in 2009, a post he is holding till date. He has also been part of the media team that accompanied PM Manmohan Singh to Malaysia for the ASEAN summit in 2005, to Qatar and Sultanate of Oman in 2006 and  G-20 meet at Seol in 2010.

He has penned a few books including ‘Kannedurina Talamala’  ’Dehali Nota’ and ’Narayana Guru.’ Some of the awards that have come Dinesh’s way are State Media Academy award 2011, G R Pandeshwar Best Journalist Award   and  Devaraj Urs award. His being chosen for the coveted post is  indeed a matter of pride for DK.
