Alok Shetty ArchitectMangalore, Sep 30, 2014: His desire to give back something to the society, to which he owes a lot, inspired him to walk a path less travelled.

Today, this young architect Alok Shetty from Kundapur designs cost-effective makeshift homes for slum dwellers and construction workers through the Parinaam Foundation of Bengaluru for which he works.

The problem specific design houses are made out of scaffolding, bamboo and wood; can be easily dismantled and re-assembled within a matter of a few hours.

The pioneering work of this youngster has earned him the coveted “Young leader of tomorrow” title by TIME magazine.  In fact, Alok was hardly 19 when he took up his first project, that of a hospital in Jaipur and since then there has been no looking back. Alok has also been featured in the Forbes 30 under 30 list.

Alok had founded firm named ‘Bhumiputra’ during his college days itself, kindled by his desire to do something for the poor. The  idea triggered when he used to visit the construction sites of his father who was in the construction business.
Today, Alok has come a long way and is an inspiration to the young world.
