Light vehicles on Mani-Mysuru highway in 3 weeks.

Sullia: With reduced rain fall in lasr couple of days,  Kodagu is slowly recovering to it’s barely life  and the work on Mani-Mysuru highway is in progress. If everything goes well, the stretch is likely to be opened for light vehicles within 3 weeks. “It will take time for the heavy vehicle traffic on the stretch,” said the official after visiting Aranthodu relief camp.

The work on the Mani -Mysuru (Sampaje Ghat) highway is in progress. The 14-km stretch from Jodupala is fully damaged. If the restoration work moves in the same speed, then light vehicles can be allowed on the stretch after 20 days.

The flood and landslide victims from Jodupala, who are still living at relief centre at Sampaje, are eager to rebuild their lives.

The victims with the help of volunteers are engaged in repairing their houses. “I had 150 coffee plants, now 50 plants have been washed away and are gone for good. I am making an effort to save the remaining plants,” said a camper.

Another victim said, “Majority of the victims are trying to find or re do the lost documents. The officials are helpful.  But they are not providing a copy of land related documents.”
