Train service via alternative route in place

Mangaluru, Aug 21, 2018: As the floods receded in neighbouring Kerala, the Railways has commenced the operation of train services between Mangaluru and Bengaluru via Palakkad.

A release from Southern Railway’s Palakkad Division here said that Train No 16514 Karwar-Bengaluru is diverted to run via Shoranur, Palakkad and Tirupathur Junction on Monday.

Services on the regular route, Mangaluru-Sakleshpur-Hassan, is affected following landslides on the ghat section.

They are unlikely to be restored at least till August 24. Till then, services to Bengaluru are likely to run via Palakkad only.

Meanwhile, Train No 16566 Mangaluru Central-Yeshwantpur Weekly Express left Mangaluru Central at 8.15 p.m. on Monday.
