Mangaluru, August 19, 2018: National Railway Users’ Consultative Commission Member K. Venkatesh Kini has urged the Railway Ministry to operate Bengaluru-Karwar/Kannur train services on two alternative routes till the track on Shiradi Ghat is restored.

In a memorandum to the Ministry, he said the trains are now proposed to be operated via Palakkad and Tirupattur, which involve longer journey hours. Besides, services on this alternative route are being cancelled following the flood situation in Kerala.

As such, the Ministry should operate Karwar-Bengaluru train via Madgaon, Londa and Hubballi, starting from Mangaluru, and the Kannur-Bengaluru train via Palakkad and Tirupattur,  Kini said. He said the South Western Railway General Manager has responded positively to the demand.
