Good turn out at Alva’s Pragati

Moodbidri: A total of 11,371 job aspirants registered for Alva’s Pragati, a two-day mass placement drive, organised by Alva’s Education Foundation on July 6, Friday.

A total of 10,399 candidates had registered online while 972 candidates made spot registration. As many as 183 companies are taking part in the drive.

As many as 8,347 candidates attended interviews on the opening day. The second day of the fair will be meant for the final round of selection for all candidates.

The placement drive was inaugurated by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. On the occasion, he said that Alva’s Education Foundation has made a benchmark in the field of education which is entitled to employment.

Quoting Chanakya’s words, he said, “Instead of lighting the darkness of the past, it is wiser to light the cloudiness of the future. The mass placement drives like this would be a great opportunity if students utilised it in true spirit.”

Appreciating the efforts of the Alva’s Foundation in organising such a mass placement drives, he said this platform has brought the companies closer to the doorsteps of rural masses. It helps the graduates to find better employment opportunities and the candidates gain masterful experiences with interview skills, he added.

He said though 10 lakh engineering graduates come out of colleges every year, only three lakh are employed while the remaining three lakh search for employment and four lakh graduates are unemployed.

Presiding over the function, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairperson Dr M Mohan Alva said that it is the passion that drove the drive rather than a just fashion.

“Our top priority is to give proper exposure and opportunities to the rural students,” said Alva.

Exchange (Moodbidri) HR Ganesh Prasad were felicitated for their constant support for Alva’s Pragati over the years.

Premier companies like Oracle, Ajax Fiori Pvt Ltd, Innova Diesel Generators Pvt Ltd, Wipro, Mphasis and Codecraft Technologies made the initial round of interviews on the first day and final round will be held today July 7, Saturday.

Two LED screens were erected at the centre, with related information screening on the same, for the benefit of aspiring candidates. Employability enhancement centres have been temporarily set up at Nudisiri Vedike to provide proper career guidance to the participants. 

Former minister K Abhaychandra Jain, Alva’s Education Foundation Trustee and former minister Amarnath Shetty were present among others.
