City auto drivers initiative reunites ‘missing girl’

Mangaluru, June 18, 2018: Alert auto drivers helped a girl who went missing from her house at Hegganahalli in Bengaluru to rejoin her parents.

The II PU student reached the KSRTC bus stand in Mangaluru on June 15, Friday night. She left her house after a quarrel with her mother on June 11, reached Mysuru the next day, and left for Hassan at night. From Hassan, she went to Chikkamagaluru and other places.

On June 15, she reached Mangaluru KSRTC bus stand at 11 pm. The auto drivers who observed her, questioned her. She replied that she wanted to go to Bengaluru. Later, she spoke to a cab driver, who had brought another man with him. The auto drivers questioned the cab driver, who informed them that he was dropping the girl to the railway station.

Suspecting his motive, the auto drivers informed Barke police. As per the direction of the police, the auto drivers took the girl and the cab driver to the police station.

Initially, the girl differed in her statements from what she told the auto drivers. Later, she gave the details of her house. Her parents, who reached Mangaluru on June 16, Saturday night along with Hegganahalli police, took her along with them.
