MLA to hold talks with revenue officials

Surathkal: Speaking to  media June 6, Wednesday, Mangaluru City North MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty said that he will convene a meeting of the revenue officials to discuss the distribution of relief for those who lost property and incurred loss following the heavy rain recently.

He said that several houses are marooned in the artificial floods. Household articles are lost and a few houses have collapsed. During the grievances meeting, he received petitions seeking aid to overcome the losses due to the flood.

The filling of silt in the stormwater drains next to the National Highway resulted in the inundation of Car Street in Surathkal. The NHAI officials will be appraised of the work that needs to be taken up.

The merchants also brought up the issue of the market. The legislator, in turn, promised to solve the problem temporarily.

The legislator said that for the benefit of the public, the MLA office will be opened at Surathkal, Gurpura and at the MCC office. Till the office is open, grievances will be received at Surathkal MCC sub-office.
