Mangaluru, June 04, 2018: The Department of Horticulture will organise Sasya Santhe in its nursery at Maddadkka, about 6 km away from Belthangady, on June 5.

People can purchase saplings of arecanut, coconut, pepper, cashew and mango by paying the rate fixed by the government, according to H.R. Nayak, Deputy Director of the department.

He said that farmers can also place demand for bio-fertilizer, vermicompost manufactured by the department at the santhe.

DD  Nayak said that the department has raised grafts of 14 local mango varieties in its Thumbe nursery near BC Road under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MGNREGA) programme.

There are 2,500 grafts. It would take another two months to distribute them as they would have to grow to a desired level.
