Mangalore, Mar 25: The Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a protest against the central government’s education policy in front of the DC office on March 25, Thursday.

District General Secretary of the CFI Mohammed Nawaz said that the states have absolutely no say on matters of education because of the union government’s monopoly over education. Stating that education is currently in the concurrent list, he expressed his concern over the fact that the National Commission for Higher Education and Research Bill 2010 will take this authority away from the states.

The CFI also feels that the new education policy is an assault on the system of higher education in India. Nawaz alleged that establishing the National Commission for Higher Education is just a ploy on the part of the centre to shift education from the concurrent to the union list. This commission is against the federal principal of our nation, he declared.

District President Thousif Ahmad, District Vice President Nasir, Sefwan, and other members of the council participated in the protest.
