Ayush hospital foundation laying at Wenlock today

Mar 10, 2018: MLA J R Lobo told media on March 9, Friday that the government has released Rs 10 crore for the Ayush hospital. Stating that composite Ayush Hospital is a first of its kind in the country, he said all systems of medicines namely Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani and Homeopathy will be brought under one roof.

The foundation for a 50-bed Wenlock District Composite Ayush Hospital, Superspeciality wing at Wenlock Hospital, child health care centre and district laboratory will be laid on March 10 - today, Saturday. The HLL-MRI unit will also be inaugurated.

The grant for the Ayush Hospital is shared by National Ayush Mission and Karnataka State government on a 60:40 basis. Already, Ayush OPD is functioning in the Wenlock Hospital, he added. District in-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai and Health Minister Ramesh will take part in the inauguration.

The MLA said that the chief minister in his 2017-18 budget had announced Rs 3 crore to upgrade RAPCC (Regional Advanced Paediatrics Care Centre) on the lines of Indira Gandhi National Child Institute.

Accordingly, Rs 30 lakh has been used for painting the RAPCC building.

The remaining Rs 2.70 crore would be used for constructing the 62-bed capacity three-floor building adjacent to RAPCC. The ground floor of the building will have 20-bed capacity children’s ortho ward, first floor will have 12-bed NICU, second floor will have 10 special wards, third floor will have 10 room semi special wards.

He said that the foundation will also be laid for the district laboratory. The lab will come up at a cost of Rs 50 lakh under National Health Mission.

The lab will test for communicable diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, rat fever, Elisa test in addition to culture/ sensitivity tests, preparing JSB test for malaria blood test in all the health centres, preparing H2S media for bacterilogical test in all the primary health centres.

The state government in its budget had announced Rs 10 crore to upgrade the Wenlock Hospital as regional hospital. The amount would be used for building 124-bedded super speciality medical wing. The new wing will house cardiac, MICU, endoscopy and cathlabs. At present, the Wenlock Hospital has 1,100 beds. Once all the facilities are developed, it will have 1,224 beds.

Urban health centres  :  The MLA said that under National Health Mission, five urban health centres will come up at Ekkur, Attavar, Kadri, Bunder and Kulai, at an estimated cost of Rs 45 lakh each. The foundation stone for the centre at Ekkur will be laid on March 11.
