Two arrested for murder of Youth Congress activist

Mangaluru, Feb 10, 2018: The Central Crime Branch Police on Friday arrested two persons allegedly involved in the murder of Ullal Block Youth Congress vice-president Mohammed Illiyas.

Illiyas, who headed the Target gang allegedly involved in extortion, was hacked to death in his apartment at Jeppu Bappal on January 13. The police suspected the involvement of Dawood, also a member of the gang, in the murder.

The CCB Police on Friday arrested Mohammed Sameer alias Sameer (27) of Ullal and Nameer Hamza (34) of Kasaragod, who are said to be associates of Dawood. The police are searching for Dawood, who is reportedly at large.

The police said that Sameer was an accused in a case of assault and another of trespass registered in Ullal Police Station. Hamza is an accused in attempt of murder, dacoity and kidnap cases registered in Konaje, Surathkal, Mangaluru North and Ullal police stations.
