Flood-lit Kambala on February 11

Mangaluru, Feb 09, 2018; Addressing reporters in Mangaluru on Thursday, Kambala committee president J Anil Shetty Mankutota said that a,  Flood-lit Jaya-Vijaya Jodukare buffalo race (Kambala) will be held on the banks of River Nethravati in Jeppinamogaru on February 11.

The Kambala would be held from February 11 morning till the afternoon of the following day.  Around 200 pair of buffaloes will take part in the Kambala. A committee comprising 140 members has been formed and construction of race course, parking, drinking water, dining and accommodation for buffaloes is being given due attention, he said.

The competition will be held in four categories. The owners of prize winning buffaloes will be awarded 8 gram, four gram and two gram gold coins respectively. Vedamurthy Vittaladasa Tantri will inaugurate the Kambala on February 11 at 8.30 am. Karavali Group of Education Institution Chairman Ganesh Rao will preside. Mangaladevi Temple managing trustee P Ramanath Hegde, entrepreneur Ganesh Shetty and others will be the guests. Former minister and Kambala committee honorary president J Krishna Palemar will preside over the formal function to be held at 7 pm. Ministers Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others will attend. Committee office-bearers Sudharak Shetty, Rajiv Shetty Mankutotaguttu, Shridhar Raj Shetty Kadekar and others were present at the press meet.
