NMPT’s image damaged by unrecognized unions

Mangaluru, Feb 06, 2018: The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on Feb 5, Monday said the All-India Port Workers’ Federation, an unrecognised trade union, was spreading false propaganda to tarnish its image. Port secretary Biju Warriyar, in a release, said: “Mangaluru residents and Karnataka traders should stand by the port and expose the designs of the forces which are inimical to the growth and prosperity of Karnataka.”

He said the workers engaged by logistics providers and commission and forwarding agents should get their grievances redressed by their employers, not by the NMPT.
