Equal facilities demanded for majority, minority communities

Nov 27, 2017: On the final day of the Dharma Sansad organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) at Udupi , Nov 26, Sunday; Sants and sadhus passed a resolution seeking same and equal facilities for both majority and minority communities, at the final day of the Dharma Sansad   Addressing media Surendra Kumar Jain, Joint General Secretary of VHP, said that this resolution was tabled by Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt. The sadhus and sants were of the opinion that government facilities available to the minority communities should be extended to the majority communities also.

At present, the government was providing many facilities to the minority communities. With the result, some groups or small communities among the majority community were desirous of the minority tag to avail themselves of such facilities. Hence, the sansad urged the Centre to amend the Constitution to extend government facilities available to the minority communities to the majority community also, he said.

Uniform Civil Code  : Replying to a query,  Jain said that there should be a Uniform Civil Code in the country. Even the courts had alluded to it. It was also part of the Directive Principles of the State Policy in the Constitution. It was not just the majority community which wanted the Uniform Civil Code, even 50 % of Muslims wanted it so that they could come out of the “burqa” and get modern education, he said.
