Mangaluru, Sep 16, 2017: Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) has hailed a government order on appointment of assistant professors for vacancies in private aided colleges. The issue has been hanging fire for more than two decades with teaching posts remaining vacant either due to death, retirement and resignations which the respective managements filled up on a temporary basis without any financial assistance from the government.

Ummappa Poojary, president of AMUCT said the association with its state level federation has been demanding the government to fill these vacancies. During the academic convention organised by AMUCT in March 2016, the association had convinced then minister for law, parliamentary affairs and higher education T B Jayachandra on the need to fill these vacancies. He responded to the demand and initiated proposal at the government level for these recruitments.
