Mangalore Today News Network

Kasargod, Apr 21 2017: After leading the successful college caper Kirik Party , it’s now time to revive school memories for Rishab Shetty. The director is currently in Kasargod for an elaborate recce to freeze locations for his upcoming children’s film, titled Sarakari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale... Koduge Ramanna Rai .

Rishab shares that the idea to make a children’s film has long been on his mind and it gained vigour during the making of Ricky two years ago. "In fact, kids are a delight to work with. I discovered this while working with the kids who featured in Ricky . They are intelligent and so much fun to be around with. I willed then that I will soon make a film exclusively with kids," shares Rishab. Having said that, the film unlike regular children’s flicks will not just deal with entertainment. "The inspiration for this project is a newspaper report that completely shook me. It spoke about how Kannada medium schools in the state are closing down due to the lack of students. I decided to base the film in Kasargod, because that region has so much variance to offer. Although it is just 40 km away from Mangaluru, its culture is a mix of Dakshina Kannada and Kerala. About nine languages are spoken here and both Yakshagana and Mohiniattam are pursued as art forms. All these aspects will together provide an interesting backdrop to the film," observes Rishab. Accompanied by his team, the director has been on the search for a perfect government school to fit the bill. "We also visited local temples and Bekal Fort as they will also be potential locations," he tells us.

The movie will go on the floors in the second week of May and star child actor Suhan Shetty of Ulidavaru Kandante and Pramod Shetty among others.
