CODP organizes training programme for Gram Panchayat candidates

Mangalore, March 17: Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP) organized a training programme for Gram Panchayath election candidates at Kadri Hills, recently. The training programme was inaugurated by Director of CODP Fr Onil D’Souza and Veronica Cornelio, the resource person. 

Ms Cornelio spoke about the important aspects of contesting for the gram panchayat elections, the required qualification, documental proof, how to file nomination papers, and much more. Speaking about the recently passed Women’s Reservation Bill, she encouraged women members to take advantage of this opportunity. 

More than 70 prospective candidates, most of whom were women, participated in this programme. The group, which was active and interested, interacted with the resource person, asking questions and clearing their doubts. 

Shankar Shetty made the welcome speech; and Tharanath proposed the vote of thanks. The comperer was Ivan Menezes.
