National vendor development programme at Udupi, Jan 11,12.

Jan 11, 2017: Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME Development Institute, department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka, in association with District Industries Centre, will organise a national vendor development programme cum industrial exhibition at Udupi Town Hall January 11 to 12.

MSME Development Institute (Mangaluru) deputy director K Socrates told media the programme is organised to provide an opportunity to micro, small and medium enterprises to showcase their capabilities to several wings of the government, establishment of railways, defense, public sector undertakings and other large scale private enterprises who outsource from micro and small enterprises. Besides, to enable the large scale enterprises to identify suitable vendors among MSE sector for forging vendor-buyer relationship.

The programme also aims to expose the educated youths to the might of different sector of Indian enterprises by which enticing them to take up entrepreneurship as their career. He said that around 50 stalls are expected to be displayed on the occasion. The entrepreneurs, bankers, general public would take part in the programme.

He said that Udupi district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj will inaugurate the programme. MP Shobha Karandlaje, deputy commissioner Venkatesh, zilla panchayat chief executive officer Priyanka Mary Francis will be the chief guests.

The industrial development process in the district has been decreasing every year from 5% to 10% due to migration. The youths have been migrating in large number and are not willing to opt self-employment. Besides, there is also scarcity of raw materials to the industries like cashew factories. He said that credit ratio in the district is less than 50%. There is one each branch for 2,900 population in the district, whereas the national ratio is 12000:1 and state ratio of 6000:1.
