3-day consumer exhibition and sale inaugurated in Mangalore

Mangalore, Mar 12: The Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation in Bangalore and the Department of Women and Child Welfare of Mangalore jointly organized a 3-day exhibition cum sale of products manufactured by women entrepreneurs and members of Stree Shakti at Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan, Pandeshwar on March 12, Friday.

K Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, the president of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath, inaugurated the event and said that, unlike the previously organized exhibitions, the current exhibition is a grand success, adding that women’s groups have utilized the opportunity to the fullest. He said that the event is a great opportunity for rural women to display their home-made products to the people of the city and earn their living. The exhibition has made it possible for Mangaloreans to view and purchase a wide range of items such as ornaments, dolls, bags, pickles, snacks, dresses, herbal juices, and so on under one roof.

 

Mr. Bhandary lauded Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade for implementing women’s self-help groups. The district deserves international recognition for the achievements of its women’s self-help groups, he said.



Mohanangayya, Swamy, Kusuma H Devadiga, and Shakuntala were the dignitaries on the dais. The vote of thanks was proposed by Shakunthala.
