Kana road blocked by people, repair of pothole-filled stretch demanded

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2016: Reports have come in that the Nagarika Horata Samiti, Kana, blocked the Surathkal-Kana-MRPL road on Oct 26, Wednesday, to get the authorities to repair the pothole-filled road.  All business establishments on the stretch remained closed during the road block from morning till evening.

The protesters said that heavy vehicles of the MRPL are operating on the road. The plying of such vehicles has taken a toll on the 4.5-km stretch.  Addressing the protesters, DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla said that the Mangaluru City Corporation, along with MLA Mohiuddin Bava, carried out a foundation-laying ceremony for repairing the road recently. The move is just an eye wash, he criticised.

CITU leader Sunil Kumar Bajal said, "It is the responsibility of the company and the MCC to repair the road. If we fail to get any suitable response, we will hold indefinite protest in the future."

MLA Mohiuddin Bava passed through the region where protesters were protesting, but did not bother to hear their grievances.
