Mangaluru, Oct 26,2016: The Muzrai Department is contemplating introducing dress code in temples administered by it, Minister for Muzrai and Charitable Endowments Rudrappa M. Lamani has said.

He was interacting with presspersons at Kukke Subrahmanya after visiting the temple on Tuesday. Mr. Lamani said that dress code is in vogue in temples of neighbouring States and the department would soon take a decision in this connection.

Development works

Speaking about development works in Kukke Subrahmanya, the Minister said that the department has to depend upon the Public Works Department for any civil work, though the quantum of work is huge. Hence, an engineering wing would be opened for the temple, he said.

The Minister said that Phase 1 of the comprehensive development work of Kukke Subrahmanya has been completed. The total cost of the development is about Rs. 180 crore. Cabinet approval would immediately be sought to take up the second phase of the project that involves underground drainage and pipeline works which require widening of roads, he said.

Mr. Lamani also said that the department would construct a crematorium if the local panchayat offers suitable land.
